Our First Home

Thank you to our old home at 744 Sydney Road, Brunswick. For over four years, it was more than just a store it was a space where community gathered, stories were shared, and our journey took shape. We’re grateful for the memories and everyone who visited us there!

"The ceiling of the Brunswick store has been totally transformed into a work of art. Inspired by the four Clothing The Gaps values to educate, elevate, advocate and motivate, it features designs created by Gunditjmara woman and co-founder of Clothing The Gaps, Laura Thompson. Coming alive with LED lighting, you might get a sore neck from staring up at it in wonder, but it’s oh so worth it."

- URBAN LIST

At Clothing The Gaps, our first flagship store features bold red, black, and yellow colours, inspired by the Aboriginal flag and historic Victorian Aboriginal Health Service on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy. This design pays tribute to the Health Service and the individuals who helped create this home away from home for Aboriginal people.

For Co-Founder Laura Thompson, this location is deeply personal. It holds cherished memories for her and her family, including Edna Brown, Alma Thorpe, and Rose Dwyer, who were instrumental in supporting the establishment of this Community Controlled organisation.
